Night of the postponed chores

On Thursday, March 3, 2022, your procrastinated term paper will get another chance. The University Library and LEO invite you to the virtual "Night of Procrastinated Term Papers" and offer research and writing advice and many other impulses to get started, recharge your batteries and persevere.

Writing academic texts with a deadline can sometimes be tedious. You can't find the right start, you have little or no exchange on the topic, the compilation of suitable literature hasn't really worked out yet either - procrastination is the result...

What would it be like if you were a lot further on at the end of the night? If you had made a start, overcome the hurdle of researching literature and gained a few new tips on how to write successfully, motivate yourself and persevere? Together with the LEO team, we have mixed a virtual cocktail for you, which we will send you via a link on March 3:

You will find short workshops on academic writingon a virtual pinboard. The LEO writing advice service and the library's helpdesk team will be on hand to answer your questions during Zoom consultation hours. There are also helpful PDFs to download and a bunch of short video clips to help you take a break or recharge your batteries. For those who don't want to write all by themselves at home, there is a virtual reading room or writing room to work quietly together.

How can you take part? Register using the online form and wait for the event link. It will be sent to you by e-mail on March 3. Decide where you want to take part from and start collecting your questions or difficulties. Make a note of the three most important goals for the evening and make sure you have a good learning atmosphere at your desk on March 3, enough fruit, water and whatever else you need to get off to a positive start.

To ensure that the event is a successful and positive experience for everyone, we ask you to familiarize yourself with the agreements that will apply to the night of postponed homework:

  • If you are attending on site in the library, the usual rules of conduct will apply. In addition, we ask that you only work quietly at the individual workstations. Participation in workshops, consultation hours or moving breaks is only permitted in the signposted group study rooms. Bring your headphones with you.
  • If you are participating from home, you can visit a virtual break room and exchange ideas with other participants. In the virtual writing room, however, we ask for absolute silence.

We are very much looking forward to this (at least virtual) relaunch of our writing nights, which we have held on site and with overnight stays in the campus library for years, but which could no longer take place due to renovation work. Our perspective is to make this offer permanent again, for which we would like your constructive feedback at the end of the event. See you there!
