Cultural festival "Seeing what's right"

From September 4 to 7, the cultural festival "Nach dem Rechten sehen" will take place in Kassel's Nordstadt district. The festival is organized by a group of students, doctoral students and restaurateurs. The program includes a lecture by Prof. Dr. Dirk Stederoth from the Institute of Philosophy at the University of Kassel.

Together with local groups such as Falken Kassel, Karnak and in cooperation with local cultural institutions and associations (Kulturzentrum Schlachthof, Biermanufaktur Steckenpferd, ASTA der Uni Kassel, Seebrücke, Kopiloten e.V., August Spies Gesellschaft, Sandershaus e.V., Initiative 06. April), the organizers are offering various events spread over three days. These will take place at various locations in the Nordstadt. The thematic focus will be on what the organizers understand by 'shift to the right': linguistic aggravation in social media & language strategies from the right, NSU, right-wing tendencies in the ecological movement, anti-Semitism and anti-feminism - but also civil sea rescue and the resistance against it.

The festival aims to address as wide a spectrum of society as possible, which is why no entrance fees are charged and various formats are offered: On the one hand mainly workshops, performances and lectures, but on the other hand also Küfas, concerts, Speakers Corner and electro parties.

The lecture attempts to show the anti-democratic alliance between the use of social media by the New Right and the global trend of user conditioning by surveillance capitalist platforms. The aim is not only to work out their mutual reinforcement, but also their structural-logical similarities.
