Research assistant (EG 13 TV-H) - in the field of open space planning

Part-time with half the regular working hours of a full-time employee. The employment is for the induction and replacement of an employee during the maternity protection period and is initially limited until 06.04.2019 (§§ 40 No. 8, 30 TV-H in conjunction with § 21 BEEG). An extension for the duration of any parental leave is being sought.

As part of the research network "New Suburbanity?" at the Department of Architecture, Urban and Landscape Planning at the University of Kassel, a maternity leave replacement for a research assistant is being sought. The research associates of the research network examine the professional debates and current urban development practice on the "greenfield" from various disciplinary perspectives at different scales. The network assumes that, in view of the consequences of reurbanization that are becoming particularly apparent in conurbations, a time of "new suburbanity" is dawning that will have a completely different character than before. The aim of the network is to analyse and characterize new suburbanization projects as they emerge. To this end, the network aims to develop and submit a DFG research group proposal on the topic of the network in cooperation with other partners.

Tasks:

• Collaboration in the research project on the key question: What relationships between interior and exterior space, privacy and the public sphere are established for suburban housing through planning and appropriation?
• During the period of the replacement, the candidate is expected to prepare a scientific publication in a specialist journal on a sub-topic of the research project.
• The position holder is obliged to participate in the teaching of the subject area to the extent of 2 SWS.
• The candidate must participate in project-related seminars, workshops and, if applicable, international conferences. There is an obligation to work intensively in interdisciplinary teams.

Prerequisites:

• Completed academic university degree (Master) in the field of landscape architecture, landscape planning or urban and regional planning.

Advantageous are:

• Very good competence in scientific work, knowledge of empirical social research, familiarity with the method of functional and social space analysis in urban areas.
