Teacher as Pedagogical Assistant (A 12/A 13 HBesG) - in the Department of Foreign Language Teaching and Learning Research & Intercultural Communication

Part-time with half the regular working hours of a full-time employee, temporary as part of a secondment/partial secondment (subject to funding approval by the Hessian Ministry of Science and the Arts (HMWK).

Job profile:

Services to the extent of at least 5 SWS teaching. In addition, the following activities are to be performed as part of the secondment: Preparatory, accompanying and follow-up events as part of the practical semester as well as supervision of students of English (L1/L2) during the practical phase at the schools. Coordination of the content of courses related to the internship semester in the Department of English/American Studies: Foreign Language Teaching and Learning Research & Intercultural Communication. Active participation in the further development of the subject area as well as in the further expansion of the Integrated Study Workshop Languages in FB 02 and in the committees related to the internship semester as well as in administrative tasks. Willingness for professional development, especially in the area of digitalization.

Requirements profile:

First and second state examination for the subject English, preferably for the teaching profession at Hauptschulen and Realschulen (L2) and/or elementary school (L1) and Gymnasien (L3) with L2 teaching experience or comparable degree and at least three years of school practice after the second state examination. Very good didactic knowledge and very good written and spoken English language skills.

The secondment/partial secondment as a pedagogical employee from the school service will initially be for a probationary year outside the vacancy quotas managed by the Hessian Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs and may be extended for at least one further year, subject to further funding approval by the Hessian Ministry of Science and the Arts. In accordance with the Ordinance on the Scope of Teaching Obligations of Academic and Artistic Staff at Universities in the State of Hesse (Teaching Obligations Ordinance), the standard teaching obligation is 9 teaching hours for almost exclusively teaching activities and 7 teaching hours for predominantly teaching activities.
