Gardener (m/f/d), EG 7 TV-H - in the field of landscaping, management and vegetation development

Tasks:

• Creation and supervision of the research objects of the Department of Landscaping, Landscape Management and Vegetation Development (research areas on the campus grounds and in public spaces, mainly with perennials, but also woody plants, seed trials)
• Assistance with the creation of planting and maintenance plans as part of research
• Cultivation, plant propagation and woody plant training at various locations of the University of Kassel, e.g. to support teaching
• Observation and documentation of vegetation processes as part of the department's research projects
• Supporting teaching in the context of seminars and exercises
• Practical implementation and documentation of experiments by the department
• Supervision of student assistants

Requirements:

• Vocational training in horticulture and landscaping or perennial horticulture with a good or better grade
• Special assortment and care knowledge of perennials, including grasses, wild perennials, spontaneous vegetation as well as basic knowledge of corresponding site requirements and competitive behavior
• In-depth knowledge of the propagation, cultivation and use of perennials and woody plants
• Several years of experience in outdoor and greenhouse cultivation
• In-depth knowledge of general cultivation measures, such as soil cultivation, soil improvement (including fertilization), weed control, plant protection
• Initial experience in drawing up planting and care plans
• Basic knowledge of handling and maintaining the necessary machines and tools
• Several years of experience with the documentation of vegetation processes
• Ability to carry out tasks mainly independently and on your own responsibility (occasionally you may also work with student assistants)
• Ability to work in a team

An advantage are

• (basic) knowledge of English
• Basic knowledge of the organization and structures of the university and the department
