Research Assistant (EG 13 TV-H) - Department of Chemistry of Mesoscopic Systems

Part-time with half the regular working hours of a full-time employee. The position is initially limited to 3 years with the possibility of extension for a further 2 years (qualification position according to § 65 HHG in conjunction with § 2 para. 1 sentence 1 WissZeitVG). The possibility of a doctorate is given.

Tasks:

The responsibilities include services in research and teaching in the field of "Chemistry of Mesoscopic Systems" and include the independent execution of research work on the synthesis of organic functional dyes and studies on their interaction with nanoparticles and light as well as participation in events of the nanostructure research center CINSaT and the support of the department in the supervision of students in degree programs of the department.

Prerequisites:

• A university degree in chemistry with very good grades and extensive practical experience in organic synthesis chemistry; alternatively a chemistry teaching degree with a completed 1st state examination and a scientific paper in the field of organic chemical synthesis
• Comprehensive experience in the synthesis of functional dyes is a mandatory requirement, as is the confident application of modern chemical-analytical methods (NMR, MS, UV/Vis, fluorescence)
• computer skills (MS-Office, ChemDraw on Mac platform) are desirable, especially for carrying out web-based database searches
• Willingness and ability to work independently
• Good written and spoken English skills
• Experience in supervising students and instructing technical staff
