2 Research Assistant (m/f/d) (EG 13 TV-H) - in the field of Human-Machine Systems Engineering

Full-time or part-time with at least 2/3 of the regular working hours of a full-time employee (currently 40 or 26.67 hours per week). The positions are initially limited to 2 years (§ 2 para. 1 WissZeitVG). The possibility of a doctorate is given.

In research and teaching, the Department of Human-Machine Systems Engineering deals with the user-oriented design of effective and efficient human-machine systems in an interdisciplinary approach. The aim is to optimize the interaction of humans with technical devices and systems.

Tasks:

Collaboration on one or more of the following main research areas:

• Design, prototype development and laboratory/field testing of an assistance system for inner-city mobility using public transportation and robotic support for a delivery service (U-high-3)
  • Low-barrier information technology design of the human-technology interaction of public transport in vehicles, at stops, in the control centre and with personalizable user interfaces such as smart public displays, smart glasses, smart watches and smart phones
  • User-centered design of human-robot interaction in public spaces and innovative support for an urban delivery service
• Design of tactons for haptic user interfaces and experimental investigation of the haptic coding of standard functions in menu navigation on a touchscreen (HaCoSta)

Activities include user- and task-oriented requirements analyses, usable design and prototypical implementation as well as empirical evaluation of prototypes. You will work together with our project partners and clients from research and industry and take on teaching tasks in the field. The aim is scientific qualification and preparation for a doctorate.

Requirements:

If you have an above-average, at least good academic degree (computer science, engineering, human factors or comparable) and would like to work scientifically at a modern campus university, have above-average initiative and commitment, very good German and English language skills and basic knowledge of human-machine systems, you could be a good fit for our team. In addition to interesting and current research questions, the department offers a modern laboratory infrastructure with diverse research opportunities and collaboration in a committed, interdisciplinary team.

Advantageous are:

Initial experience in empirical experimental design/evaluation and/or initial programming experience.
