Tasks:

Together with our project partners, you will work on the prototypical implementation, testing and evaluation of novel methods in the field of Cooperative Intelligent Transportation Systems. These systems offer a wide range of promising solutions for selected road traffic problems. Our focus here is, for example

- energy-optimized driving of public transport at signalized junctions,

- the routing of large and heavy goods vehicles on the basis of current traffic data and

- estimating and predicting the potential risk of accidents on the basis of historical accident data and current traffic and driving history data, for example to avoid accidents involving wildlife.

Your tasks will include the systematic acquisition of expert knowledge, the development of information strategies, the testing and evaluation of the developed methods both in a simulation environment and in real road traffic.

 

Prerequisites:

A good academic degree (Master's or Diploma) in engineering or natural sciences with relevant knowledge in at least one of the following subject areas is expected: Data analysis, data analytics, pattern recognition, machine learning methods, forecasting methods and/or road traffic engineering, traffic telematics, traffic simulation, evaluation and assessment methods. Knowledge of software development, e.g. of Android apps, is an advantage; at least a basic knowledge of a higher programming language is expected.

In addition, the ability to work independently on research and development projects, a confident manner and the willingness to work in a team in an interdisciplinary environment are required. Fluency in written and spoken German and knowledge of English are required.
