35th anniversary of the Breitenau Memorial

On Sunday, September 22, there will be a celebration to mark the 35th anniversary of the Breitenau Memorial on the grounds of the former Breitenau monastery church. In addition to a retrospective, the ceremony will address questions about the current and future significance of the memorial's work.

Following a worrying increase in right-wing extremist tendencies, including the murder of District President Dr. Walter Lübcke, the association is facing new challenges for its memorial work. At the same time, this work must be further developed and consolidated. In this context, important changes are currently taking place at the Breitenau Memorial. Among other things, the memorial is being extended to include the lower floor, which will open up new and varied opportunities for the work.

An official part of about one and a half hours is planned for the celebrations. Afterwards, all guests will be invited to meet and chat over drinks and a light snack. Interested visitors will also have the opportunity to take part in guided tours and learn about the history of Breitenau and the development of the memorial.
