Minimal Musical Festival: Concert with "ORK" at the Institute of Music

The 11th International Minimal Music Festival takes place in Kassel on the second and third weekend in September. To close the festival, the French duo ORK will play in the concert hall of the Institute of Music and present their extraordinary, danceable minimal music fusion performance to the audience.

Ork is a hybrid formation that has existed since 2013. The duo Olivier Maurel and Samuel Klein create their own universe, which is also visually staged: on stage, the two musicians work with a kind of electronic "marionette machine". The instruments, each equipped with sensors, form an orchestral soundscape. Klein and Maurel's performance moves between electro, minimal music, jazz and rock.

Samuel Klein (*1982) was educated at the Music Academy International (MAI) in Nancy and at the conservatory in Strasbourg. He worked early on as a rock drummer. He toured France, Europe and the world with Fanfare en Petard and Lyre k Temps. Together with Olivier Maurel, he developed the duo Ork in 2013. Complex technical arrangements are used to create a bridge between man and machine.

Olivier Maurel (*1983) was educated at the conservatories of Rennes, St. Malo and Strasbourg. Since beginning his work as a musician
, he has been looking for new musical paths that also incorporate other arts and new media. He is a member of the ensembles Linea and Les Percussions de Strasbourg. He has worked with artists and ensembles such as Christine Ott, Raphelson and Auditive Connexion, with whom he has participated in many concerts and festivals.

With his friend Samuel Klein, he founded ORK in 2013, a 'machine' for the fusion of rock, jazz, electronic music and contemporary sounds.
