Research assistant (EG 13 TV-H) - in the field of cutting and joining manufacturing processes

The position is initially limited to 24 months (§ 2 para. 1 WissZeitVG) and is subject to the allocation of funds by the funding bodies. The possibility of a doctorate is given.

The Department of Cutting and Joining Manufacturing Processes at the University of Kassel deals with both cutting and joining manufacturing processes. The department focuses on the areas of adhesive bonding and welding joining technology. In the field of welding technology, numerous issues relating to joining using electron and laser beam technology are investigated both within the framework of publicly funded projects and in industrial projects.

Tasks:

Within the framework of publicly funded projects, together with industrial and research partners, the processes of generative manufacturing for metallic materials - in particular the so-called "Laser Metal Deposition" (LMD) - are to be further developed using both powder-based and wire-based filler materials and qualified for industrial application.

The main tasks include the scientific processing and cooperative management of these research topics, the implementation, evaluation and interpretation of experimental investigations, the supervision of student assistants and participation in the implementation of courses.

Requirements:

• Above-average academic university degree (diploma or master's degree) in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, mechatronics, materials science or physics
• careful, independent and team-oriented way of working
• very good written and spoken communication skills (German and English)

Advantageous are:

• Experience in the fields of beam technology, materials technology, production technology, programming of industrial robots and/or laser deposition welding
