As part of the KDEE and in close cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Energy Economics and Energy System Technology IEE, the Department of Energy Management and Operation of Electrical Grids (e²n) conducts research on the technically and economically optimized design, control and operational management of the future decentralized energy supply system (smart grid) with a high proportion of renewable energies as an important challenge of the energy transition to ensure a secure, cost-efficient and sustainable energy supply. In this exciting, extensive subject area, the e²n department is closely linked to the Fraunhofer IEE in Kassel through personnel links and numerous joint projects.
We are looking for reinforcement for our research team in the following key research areas:
- Coordination and acquisition of research projects with a high application relevance.
- Management of the Network Dynamics research group
- Supervision of doctoral students.
- Modeling and control of current- and voltage-inducing converters.
- Dynamic time domain simulations (EMT and RMS) for stability analyses.
Requirements:
- Above-average academic university degree and a doctorate in electrical engineering, physics, computer science, mathematics or equivalent education or professional experience.
- Ideally relevant experience in working with international working groups, e.g. IEEE or CIGRE
- Independent and goal-oriented way of working and enjoyment of scientific work.
- Extensive experience in modeling, control, simulation and stability analysis (EMT and RMS) of electrical networks.
- You have a very good mathematical and theoretical understanding of complex systems.
- Good to very good knowledge of the DIgSILENT PowerFactory and MATLAB/Simulink simulation environments is required.
- You have a structured and communicative way of working that enables you to work in a team.
- You are curious about the challenges of grid integration of renewable energies.
