Research Assistant (EG 13 TV-H) - in the Institute of Biology - Science Bridge

Part-time with half the regular working hours of a full-time employee. The position is initially limited to 3 years as part of the project "CRISPR/Cas - Public relations / Public outreach" (§ 2 Abs. 2 WissZeitVG).

Tasks:

• Supervision of an internet blog and the usual social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook etc.)
• Contact with the scientific working groups (approx. 20 groups, Germany-wide)
• Organization of a roadshow (exhibition, lectures/discussions, laboratory courses for the public) at various locations
• Contact with the press offices of the participating universities
• own press contacts
• Contacts with cooperating journalists
• Participation in the financial administration

All work is supported by the existing team. Place of work is Kassel.

Requirements

• Completed academic degree in a relevant subject area
• demonstrable media experience
• Interest in expanding your own scientific knowledge
• Ability to coordinate independent cooperation between scientists, artists and journalists
• Ability to independently write media and publicity-effective texts
• Ability to operate / use social media independently, reliably and efficiently
• Willingness to work with a small university team in a spirit of trust
• Willingness to travel on business

Advantageous are:

• Basic knowledge of molecular biology (especially interest in gene editing with CRISPR/Cas)
• Thorough and independent working methods

• A high degree of organizational skills
• A high degree of teamwork and the ability to coordinate very heterogeneous teams
