Concert Uni Choir: The current semester program "Gloria"

Cantiamo, the choir of the University of Kassel, presents its current semester program. The program includes two sacred works for choir and instruments by Antonio Vivaldi and the young, contemporary Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo.

The music stands in the field of tension between the sumptuous and expressive baroque music in the Gloria on the one hand, and the flat, spherical, Nordic sounds in the Sunrise Mass (2008) on the other. The Sunrise Mass sticks to the Latin text, interpreting it in its compositional structure as a metaphysical path from heaven to earth.

Vivaldi wrote his Gloria for the pupils in an orphanage, where he worked with dedication for many years
