The Hessian section of the Konstanzer Arbeitskreis für mittelalterliche Geschichte has been in existence since 1964, together with its working sessions. Since then, it has offered scholars an opportunity to present their research and put it up for discussion.

The meetings usually take place once a semester and are held alternately in Darmstadt, Giessen, Kassel, Mainz and Marburg. They are supported by Ingrid Baumgärtner (Kassel), Verena Epp (Marburg), Ludger Körntgen (Mainz), Christine Reinle and Stefan Tebruck (Giessen) and Gerrit Jasper Schenk (Darmstadt).
