The position is initially limited for 3 years with the possibility of extension for a further 3 years (qualification position according to § 65 HHG in conjunction with § 2 para. 1 sentence 2 WissZeitVG). The possibility of habilitation is given.

 

Tasks:

  • Academic collaboration in research and teaching in the field of Modern and Contemporary History (approx. from 1789 to the present)
  • Independent work on a research sub-area in the field of modern and contemporary history from a global and interrelated historical perspective
  • Implementation of the habilitation project
  • Support in the preparation of third-party funding applications
  • Independent planning, implementation and follow-up of teaching to the extent of 4 SWS in the Bachelor's, Master's and teacher training courses in History

 

Prerequisites:

  • Academic degree in Modern and Contemporary History completed with good to very good results
  • Completed doctorate in the field of modern and contemporary history
  • In addition to German, very good knowledge of English and good knowledge of another modern foreign language
  • Very good knowledge of approaches to global and interdependence history and/or concepts of modern cultural history

 

Advantageous are

  • Experience with archival research
  • Experience of studying and/or researching in other European and/or non-European countries
  • Success in the independent acquisition of third-party funding
  • Thorough and independent working methods
  • A high degree of organizational skills
  • Experience in planning courses and excursions
