"Sustainable prospects to stay" series: Network meeting with local "Connect & Act" initiatives

In order to enable successful integration and overcome bureaucratic hurdles for refugees, commitment from the wider civil society is necessary - and is already active in a variety of ways. However, it is becoming increasingly difficult for many people to claim their right to protection, especially in a migration policy that is tightening almost daily, while the scope for civil society engagement is becoming increasingly limited. That is why we want to network and strengthen each other in Kassel. At "Connect & Act", various local initiatives and multipliers will present their work with refugees. There will be space to ask questions and find out about the opportunities for getting involved. The event can also be an opportunity for the initiatives themselves to network even more closely. We want to advocate for a low-threshold integration policy and a welcoming culture. If you also think this openness is important, then come along!

From the event series "Perspectives to stay or flight and migration in times of upheaval in Germany" (April 24 to July 10, 2025)
Debates about migration are increasingly dominating kitchen table conversations and politics. At the same time, discussions are becoming increasingly emotionalized and fronts in society are hardening. The student project "Sustainable Perspective to Stay" at the University of Kassel aims to create the opportunity to take another look at the basic idea of asylum and asylum law. In addition to the legal perspective, there will be a strong focus on the current living environments of migrants. In this context, topics such as migration, work and social rights will be examined in the context of a restrictive migration policy. In addition to lectures, the series of events also includes a reading, two film screenings, a networking meeting and a workshop. Following the events, there will be an open space for discussion.
