Inauguration of the jetty extension on the Fulda River

The cooperation between the Kurhessen Cassel Rowing Club (RKC) and the University of Kassel has been in place since 2016. This allows joint use of the pier for both the athletes of the RKC and the approximately 200 athletes of the university sports of the University of Kassel. Due to the great interest and the demand for the water sports offer, there were always bottlenecks at the jetty and consequently traffic jams when getting in and out of the boats.

Last Friday the time had come and the extension of the jetty was inaugurated. With its length of 24 meters (previously it was twelve meters), it now offers enough space for water sports enthusiasts. The extension makes the facility a rarity, as Dr. Tobias Heyer (Head of the General University Sports Department) is of the opinion that such a long jetty is not often seen in the region. A big thank you must also go to the "Freunde des Kasseler Hochschulsports e.V." (Friends of Kassel University Sports), which supported the financing of the jetty with a generous sum.

After the forced break by Corona, not only the RKC but also the university sports are looking forward to the extensive use of the new jetty. In addition to rowing and kayaking, the university sports department is also planning to offer canoe touring and stand-up paddling.
