Digitization as a window of opportunity for equality

While the commission was online, , Prof. Dr. Aysel Yollu-Tok, the commission's chairwoman, delivered the report directly to the federal minister. "What course do we need to set in order to shape developments in the digital economy in such a way that women and men have equal opportunities for realization?"  - this was the report commissioned by the federal government.

Starting from a socio-technical perspective on the digital transformation, the Commission of Experts encourages the use of automated processes to be considered, assessed and actively shaped in their respective social context. In its report, it develops concrete recommendations for action to ensure that digitization is gender-equitable, ranging from the digital industry and the digitized economy to the digitization of society.

"In our report, we formulate 101 recommendations for action to strengthen realization opportunities in the course of digitization for everyone - regardless of gender," says Yollu-Tok. "To achieve this, the framework conditions for digitization must be shaped. This also has consequences for gender equality policy, because where new barriers and challenges arise, goals, regulations, structures and instruments must be adapted."

The German government will now prepare its statement on this report. Both documents will be included in the Third Equality Report, which will then be presented to the Bundestag.
