Big business: plants and botanical gardens in the era of colonialism

The botanist PD Dr. Stefan Schneckenburger has worked in botanical gardens for over 35 years, including 27 years as director of the Darmstadt Botanical Garden and as president of the Association of Botanical Gardens. His experience ranges from international species conservation to questions of the history of science.
He will talk about the role of botanical gardens then and now, about empires and colonial botany. There will be time for discussion and exchange.
