Lecture by Christian Felber: Do economics and ethics go together?

Christian Felber (Vienna) will be coming to the University of Kassel on May 17, 2019. He is the initiator of the "Bank for the Common Good" project and the "Economy for the Common Good" (ECG). His books "Ethischer Welthandel" (Ethical World Trade) and "Die Gemeinwohl-Ökonomie" (The Economy for the Common Good) are bestsellers. The latter was awarded the ZEIT Research Prize in 2017.

In his lecture, Felber will present the ECG - an ethical economic model that shows how business and ethics can go hand in hand. The model is based on values that promote community and is therefore a lever for change at an economic, political and social level.
The public event is also the start of the spring conference of the Ökumenische Initiative eine Welt e.V. (ÖIEW). It is being held in cooperation with UniKasselTransfer/Service Learning and the GWÖ regional group Kassel, which was founded in 2018.

At the ÖIEW's spring conference, the topic will be explored in greater depth under the title "Economies for Life - Towards a Global Ethic". All interested parties are invited to attend the conference in Germete near Kassel from May 18 to 19.

A practical seminar (service learning) on responsible corporate management will be held at the University of Kassel (Witzenhausen) in the 2019 summer semester. Regional companies in the agricultural and food sector will draw up a common good balance sheet with the help of students. They are accompanied by the Kassel Regional Group for the Economy for the Common Good, which aims to win over more companies to the ECG in the future.
