Research Assistant (EG 13 TV-H) - in the field of Intelligent Embedded Systems

The position is initially limited until 31.12.2020 as part of the project "C/sells - The Energy System of the Future in the Solar Arc of Southern Germany" (§ 2 para. 2 WissZeitVG). The possibility of a doctorate is given.

The department "Intelligent Embedded Systems" (Prof. Dr. Sick) currently consists of 12 employees and 10 external doctoral candidates working on topics in the fields of Autonomic and Organic Computing, Technical Data Analytics and Intelligent Technical Systems (esp. applications in the automotive and energy sectors).

Tasks

• Scientific collaboration in the sub-project "RegioFlex Markt Nordhessen" of the above-mentioned project
• Focus on projections and forecasts of grid states of electrical power grids
• Development of methods in the field of data analysis and machine learning

The RegioFlexmarkt Nordhessen aims to make renewable energy more usable regionally. In doing so, it is important to make the best possible predictions of the state of the electricity grid. The central task in the project is to develop new, better forecasting models or to optimize existing forecasting models.

Prerequisites:

• University degree in computer science or electrical engineering (diploma or master's degree) or a comparable mathematical-technical degree, e.g. business informatics, industrial engineering, physics or mathematics, completed with at least good grades
• Good knowledge of English and German (at least level B1)

Advantageous are:

• Previous knowledge in at least one of the following areas:

1. analysis of power grids (load flow calculations)
2. application of machine learning methods
3. time series analysis and pattern recognition
4. software development

• Thorough and independent way of working
• A high degree of organizational talent
• Experience with at least one of the following programming languages: C, C++, Python, R, Matlab or Java
