Kassel student of experimental physics wins German university championship in half marathon

At the finish line, he commented overjoyed: "After I still had to miss the German championships in road running in Hanover due to injury, I really wanted to compete in another half marathon. The fact that I was even able to win the title for the University of Kassel makes me especially proud." Ring finished third overall behind Roman Prodius (1:08:12 h) and Miebale Andemicale (1:08:45 h) in a time of 1:12:08 h and won first place in the university ranking.

While the spectators were enjoying glorious sunshine, the heat was getting to the runners on the circuit through the state capital. The group around Ring and the later runner-up in the university ranking Michael Majewski (University of Osnabrück) had to say goodbye to the target time and pay tribute to the conditions. However, this did not make the fight for the university crown any less exciting. It was only with a spirited increase in pace at kilometer 20 that Ring was able to decisively pull away from his opponent. At the finish line, the two were separated by 13 seconds. The podium was completed by Jonas Götte (1:13:12 h, HS Bund Brühl).
