Training contents

• Sowing, pricking out, separating and potting plants
• Cultivating and caring for plants
• Harvesting, drying and sowing spores
• Preserving endangered plant species through seed propagation

Prerequisites

• At the time of the beginning of the training, the secondary school leaving certificate should be available.
• Good grades in German and mathematics

Advantageous are:

• interest in working with plants
• manual dexterity
• technical understanding
• "Weather resistance
• Ability to think logically

Training duration and structure

The training lasts 3 years.

High school graduates have the option of shortening the training period to 2 years.

An intermediate examination is held halfway through the training period.

Training pay

A monthly training allowance is paid in accordance with § 8 (1) of the collective agreement for trainees in the state of Hesse (TVA-H BBiG).

Training location

The practical training takes place in the botanical teaching and experimental facilities of the Department of Natural Sciences of the University of Kassel in Heinrich-Plett-Straße in Kassel.

The vocational school is the Willy-Brandt-Schule in Kassel-Oberzwehren.
