Job profile:
We are looking for a scientifically outstanding person who conducts research on current and innovative topics in urban water management, publishes these successfully with high national and international visibility and passes them on in teaching. A process-oriented, systemic or procedural approach to research is expected. Research must focus on at least one of the following topics:

  • Elimination of nutrients, trace substances, microplastics or antibiotic-resistant germs in wastewater,
  • Resource recovery from wastewater (e.g. nutrients, energy),
  • Drinking water production, treatment and distribution,
  • Numerical simulation of processes and material flows (e.g. sewer networks, wastewater treatment),
  • Transformation of the water infrastructure,
  • drinking water and wastewater systems in developing countries.

Experience in applying for and carrying out third-party funded projects as well as the willingness to lead coordinated research projects are required. Interdisciplinary and interdepartmental cooperation with the professorship should also be strengthened.

The professorship represents urban water management in the teaching of environmental and civil engineering courses across the board and, where necessary, takes up other environmentally relevant principles.

In order to increase the practical relevance of teaching and engineering research, additional practical experience in urban water management would be an advantage.

For research and teaching - in joint use with other specialist areas - the experimental station and test center for environmental technology and hydraulic engineering, an analytical laboratory and a test field at the Kassel wastewater treatment plant are available.

Requirements profile:
Participation in academic self-administration is part of the duties. The recruitment requirements and performance requirements according to §§ 61, 62 of the Hessian Higher Education Act apply. The position is open-ended.
