Reading and music: "Words & Songs" by and with students from the University of Kassel

Literature and different ways of articulating oneself in literature: that's what the King Schulz Bar in Kassel's Königstor is all about for one evening. The reading is part of the "Kulturszene Kassel" seminar, which has taken place every semester since 2011 as a cooperation between Literaturhaus Nordhessen and the Institute of German Studies at the University of Kassel. The event is independently organized and moderated by students.

As part of this event, students demonstrate their literary creativity on stage for the first time: Leandra Pfannkuche (21) can be found on many poetry slam stages and performs her own texts, Tabea Axt (19) reads parts of her "Emilia Galotti Fan Fiction" and Emma Alsenz (19) recites her own poems. Munich-born word juggler Brian Damage (31) will perform a rap and Shiva (19) will enrich the evening with a story.

The evening will be accompanied by the singer Luna from Göttingen. Luna's songs, which fall somewhere between blues and classic singer/songwriter, sound personal and honest. All without any frills, accompanied only by the sound of the electric piano. In Kassel, she has already performed at the Theaterstübchen, the Kunstwerkstatt and at the open reading stage of the Literaturhaus. Her songs tell of hesitation on the doorstep, the dark recesses of a bar, the cigarette afterwards and the melancholy that sometimes surprises us when the familiar has suddenly become strange.
