Part-time with 30.00 percent of the regular working hours of a full-time employee. The position is initially limited until 14.09.2019 (§ 2 Abs. 2 WissZeitVG). The aim is to increase working hours.

RE-DIRECT is an EU-funded interregional joint project with an interdisciplinary focus that deals with the production of activated carbon from various residual biomasses in European regions. One focus of the work is the investigation of the purification performance of activated carbons produced from different grassland stocks or other biomasses for wastewater.

The main place of work is Witzenhausen, with regular visits to project partners lasting several days. An important activity will be the transfer of knowledge to tropical and subtropical regions.

 

Your tasks:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Scientific collaboration in climate-related work areas of the research program and assistance to the scientific leader of the project.
  • Independent data analysis and interpretation
  • Cooperative collaboration with other partners of the overall network
  • Preparation of scientific publications in international journals and for consulting purposes
  • Presentation of results at scientific conferences
  • Preparation of material for the transfer of project results to tropical and subtropical regions

 

Your requirements:

  • Completed scientific university degree and doctorate in the field of agricultural science or related fields
  • In-depth knowledge in the field of climate relevance of agricultural cropping systems and residual biomass of different project regions.
  • Didactic and rhetorical skills.
  • Ability to carry out independent scientific work
  • Experience in dealing with extensive data sets
  • Experience in agricultural and/or vegetation research in the tropics and subtropics
  • Open-mindedness and creativity with regard to interdisciplinary cooperation in the joint project - Ability to work in a team
  • Willingness to be involved in teaching at the Department of Ecological Agricultural Sciences
