Research assistant (m/f/d), (EG 13 TV-H) - in the field of plastics technology

Department of Mechanical Engineering, Institute of Materials Engineering - Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Heim - temporary, full-time

Application deadline:

Start of recruitment:

at the earliest possible date

Reference number:

The position is limited to three years within the framework of the DFG third-party funded project "Characterization of the cyclic-dynamic load behavior of injection-molded integral foam structures" (§ 2 para. 2 WissZeitVG). The possibility of a doctorate is given. The aim is to answer questions regarding the influence of morphology on the cyclic-dynamic load behavior of foam injection molded thermoplastic systems.

Tasks:

  • As a scient. Research Associate in the Plastics Engineering Group at the Institute of Materials Engineering at the University of Kassel, you will work on application- and basic research-oriented questions of plastics engineering in a young, innovative working environment with above-average laboratory equipment as part of the third-party funded project "Characterization of the cyclic-dynamic load behavior of injection-molded integral foam structures"
  • The cyclic-dynamic behaviour of thermoplastic injection-moulded foams has so far only been characterized to a limited extent. Structures with higher degrees of foaming exhibit deviating density distributions and structural features whose dynamic load behaviour is to be characterized. The influence of the structure on damage, deformation and failure behavior is to be investigated

Prerequisites:

  • You have an above-average university degree in one of the following disciplines:
    • Materials science
    • Mechanical engineering/ plastics technology
  • You are characterized by a keen interest in scientific issues in plastics technology and have a high degree of motivation and initiative. A convincing and confident appearance as well as good written and spoken English skills are required

Advantageous are:

  • Knowledge in the field of thermoplastic injection molded foams and/ or knowledge in the field of cyclic dynamic material testing of plastics
  • Thorough and independent working methods
  • A high degree of organizational skills
