Research Associate (m/f/d), EG 13 TV-H - in the Department of Cutting and Joining Manufacturing Processes

The position is initially limited until 28.02.2022 (§ 2 Abs. 2 WissZeitVG). The possibility of a doctorate is given.

The Department of Cutting and Joining Manufacturing Processes at the University of Kassel is concerned with both cutting and joining manufacturing processes. The department focuses on adhesive bonding technology and research on wood-based material systems. Here, numerous issues related to adhesive bonding and the technical use of wood-based materials are investigated both in publicly funded projects and in industrial projects. 

Tasks:

Within the framework of a publicly funded project, innovative wood-based material systems based on willow wood rails are to be researched and characterized, and suitable joining processes are to be developed, in cooperation with industrial and research partners. In particular, the project involves the development and research of design and construction materials with a focus on joining geometry, joining process and application properties.

The scope of duties essentially comprises the scientific processing and cooperative management of the research topic, with the focus of the planned work being on research in the field of joining technology as well as the performance, evaluation and interpretation of experimental investigations. In addition, the supervision of student assistants and participation in the implementation of courses are part of the range of tasks.

Requirements:

• University degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, wood technology, materials science or comparable with at least good results.
• Careful, independent and team-oriented way of working
• Very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing (German and English).

Advantageous are:

• Experience in the fields of materials engineering, production engineering and wood technology
• Experience in the (machining) processing of wood materials
• Experience in the field of adhesive bonding technology
