Research Assistant (m/f/d), EG 13 TV-H - in the Department of Digital and Experimental Design and Construction

Part-time with half the regular working hours of a full-time employee. The position is initially limited to 20 months (qualification position according to § 65 HHG in conjunction with § 2 para. 1 sentence 1 WissZeitVG). The possibility of a doctorate is given.

The "Experimental and Digital Design and Construction" department is dedicated to the research and teaching of computer-based design and fabrication processes in architecture, which are developed in the field of tension between the neighboring fields of construction, statics and design. Material properties, structural calculations and manufacturing technology are directly incorporated into the design process via digital design logic and are closely interlinked. The effects of the changing production conditions caused by digitalization on architecture are investigated on the basis of empirical research and study projects. Robotics is a central design tool with which new digital construction processes are developed.

Tasks:

• Scientific collaboration in research and teaching
• Participation in current research projects in the field of computer-based design, form finding, material development and digital fabrication
• Development of construction processes and production of prototypes in the robotics research laboratory

Requirements:

• University degree in architecture / design / civil engineering with very good to good results
• Very good CAD knowledge in parametric 3d modeling in programs such as Rhinoceros + Grasshopper
• Good knowledge of English and German

Advantageous are:

• Knowledge of scripting / programming (e.g. Python, C#)
• Previous knowledge of robotic fabrication
• Previous knowledge in FE modeling
• Thorough and independent way of working
• A high degree of organizational and teamwork skills
