The Institute of Nanostructure Technology and Analytics (INA) invites strongly motivated individuals to apply for Research Associate positions to join the Nano-Optics group led by PD Dr. M. Benyoucef, which has been opened as part of a new interdisciplinary project SmolBits. The project focuses on the understanding of quantum effects in molecular systems integrated on a solid-state platform and the development of a new concept for quantum computers and/or quantum processors. The project is carried out by interdisciplinary teams (experimental and theoretical physics, chemistry and electrical engineering) and coordinated by the Department of Technical Physics. The state of Hesse is funding "SMolBits" with around 4.4 million euros over four years.

The Institute of Nanostructure Technology and Analytics (INA) at the University of Kassel is a joint institute of the departments of Technical Electrical Engineering and Technical Physics. The INA is mainly run by two groups of currently about 80 people (including students) working on nanostructure technologies and their applications mainly in photonics, optics and optoelectronics. The INA's resources include 400 square meters of clean room facilities with semiconductor process technology for III-V materials and Si as well as around 400 square meters of additional laboratory space. These include epitaxy (MBE, CVD), lithography (photo, electron beam), dry etching (RIE, ICP-RIE), deposition (evaporator, IBE, CVD) and analytical equipment (PL, XRD, AFM, FIB, laser measurement systems), enabling a complete process flow from epitaxial materials to assembled devices. The Department of Technical Physics (http://tp.ina-kassel.de) operates a dual-chamber molecular beam epitaxy (Veeco Gen II Modula) for III-V materials based on GaAs and InP substrates. A new dual-chamber MBE system for III-V and Si/Ge epitaxy will be installed in 2018, enabling the monolithic integration of III-V active materials on Si.
