Research Assistant (m/f/d), EG 13 TV-H - in the field of Discrete Optimization

Part-time with half the regular working hours of a full-time employee. The employment is part of the third-party funded project "NSONII: Optimization methods and tools for planning and management of offshore systems" and is limited until 31.12.2022 (§ 2 Abs. 2 WissZeitVG).

The possibility of a doctorate is given.

Tasks:

• Collaboration in the above-mentioned research project, in its presentation and in seminars. This includes in particular the development, analysis and implementation of mathematical models and solution methods for the optimization of energy networks with robustness and reliability requirements.
• Scientific collaboration in research and teaching in the field of discrete optimization.

Requirements:

• University degree in mathematics or computer science with very good to good grades and specialization in discrete optimization
• Good programming skills in C++ or a comparable programming language
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English

Advantageous are:

• Experience in the practical application of combinatorial and integer optimization techniques, in the field of robust optimization as well as in the field of machine learning and statistical data analysis
• Thorough and independent way of working
• A high degree of organizational skills, ability to work in a team
