Your tasks:

  • Independent work on a research sub-area in the field of magnetism in nanostructured thin-film systems. This research activity serves as preparation for the habilitation.
  • Scientific services in the research area of the Experimental Physics IV working group:
    • Experimental (and theoretical) work on scientific problems in the field of functional magnetic thin films to study dynamic remagnetization processes,
    • Initiating and supporting research projects, in particular on the basis of third-party funding,
    • Collaboration in the development of high technology for experimental work,
    • Ongoing review and evaluation of relevant scientific literature.
  • Supporting the department in the area of teaching: Providing scientific services for the organization, preparation and implementation of teaching within the scope of the applicable teaching obligation regulations in the area of the working group. Teaching includes the scientific supervision of the lectures "Physics 1 and 2" in the Electrical Engineering and Mechatronics degree programs.
  • Supervision of students (aim: Bachelor, Master or doctorate). Collaboration in the administration of working groups, supervision of assistants and research assistants. Assist with procurement and organizational tasks.

 

Your requirements:

  • Completed scientific university degree
  • Completed doctorate in experimental physics and postdoctoral experience as well as active publication activity.
  • International research experience proven by at least 6 months of PostDoc work outside Germany.
  • Very good expertise in the field of magnetization dynamics in magnetic thin film systems.
  • Experience with: Time Resolved STXM at synchrotron radiation sources; Lorentz-TEM and TR MOKE (with emphasis on dynamics); lithography (e-beam & optical); film growth (thermal and sputter deposition); theoretical modeling (micromagnetic, analytical and thermal design using 3D FEM); FMR, XMCD-FMR as well as PEEM; time-resolved core microscopy.
  • Teaching and leadership experience with different groups, experience in the scientific supervision of students.
  • Willingness to pursue further scientific qualifications in theory and practice.

 

Desirable are:

  • Experience in setting up (and working with) physical high technology, experience in fabrication of PMA multilayer systems with ferro- and ferrimagnetic coupling as well as antiferromagnetic layers.
  • Experience in software development for the control and data acquisition of the setups
  • Organizational skills, proven by experience in third-party funding applications
  • Good knowledge of research structures.
