Pre-opening "Research station for documenta and exhibition studies"

On August 13 and 14, the Transdisciplinary Research Center for Exhibition Studies (TRACES) of the University of Kassel and Kunsthochschule Kassel will present its inner-city research station, which is based on a Bauhaus design. Students are building the house themselves and it will be put into operation in October, where citizens can participate in research and teaching.

The public is cordially invited to the pre-opening and open day:

Pre-opening on August 13 at 5:00 pm at Lutherplatz (access next to Mauerstraße 11), 34117 Kassel with Prof. Dr. René Matzdorf (Vice President of the University of Kassel), Prof. Dr. Alexis Joachimides (Managing Director TRACES). City Dean Dr. Michael Glöckner (Evangelical City Church District of Kassel, for the property owner and cooperation partner), Prof. Philipp Oswalt, (Department of Architectural Theory and Design).

At 18:00 there will be a discussion round "Places of urban society - A conversation with initiators" with Marie Kersting (Dokfest), Gerrit Retterath (neighborhood art project "Hier im Quartier/Kulturzentrum Schlachthof"), Malene Saalmann (Trafo-Haus); N.N. (Tokonoma), moderated by Prof. Dr. Heinz Bude.

On Saturday, August 14 from 12:00 - 17:00, the almost completed research station will also be open to visitors as part of an open day.

TRACES will put the research station into operation at the end of October 2021. Pop-up exhibitions, talks, lectures, workshops, seminars and much more are planned.
