Establishment of a Board of Trustees at the Sozialwerk des Deutschen Gerichtsvollzieher Bundes e.V.

On November 3, 2022, the Sozialwerk des Deutschen Gerichtsvollzieher Bundes e.V. (in short: Sozialwerk des DGVB e.V.) was a guest at the Higher Regional Court of Cologne. After a guided tour of the historic building, the association members came together for the constituent meeting, which focused in particular on the establishment of a new body - the Board of Trustees.

The Sozialwerk des DGVB e.V., which is chaired by Winfried Pesch, is a non-profit and charitable aid organization that supports - within the judicial system, but also beyond it - victims and those affected by acts of violence and crime and their relatives, as well as people who have fallen on hard times through no fault of their own as a result of illness or misfortune. It provides assistance to victims in disaster situations, such as in connection with the flood disaster last summer.

Dr. Heinz - Wilhelm Esser (known as Doc Esser) was elected chairman of the newly established board of trustees. The committee, which also includes Prof. Dr. jur. Nicolaj Fischer, Head of the Legal Department II and of the Civil Law and Civil Procedure Department at the Institute for Commercial Law at the University of Kassel, Dipl.-Psych. Thomas Weber, Managing Director and Head of the Center for Trauma and Conflict Management Cologne (ZTK), Marc Schmitz, President of the European (UEHJ) and the International (UIHJ) Union of Judicial Officers, as well as President of the Higher Regional Court Dr. Bernd Scheiff, advise the Board of Trustees in all fundamental matters of the Sozialwerk. In addition, the members of the Board of Trustees promote the association of the relief organization with partners and personalities from politics, science, sports, medicine, the economy and public life.
