3rd action day of the energy-saving campaign "We act together"

On 24.01.2023, the third and final action day of the energy saving campaign "We act together" will take place in the Campus Center from 4 p.m. to approx. 8 p.m.

This time, the focus will be on social sustainability. This is because results from the latest wave of the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) show that all households are negatively affected by the rise in energy prices. That is why we are offering a wide range of information and advice for students and employees on this day from 4 pm to 6 pm.

From 6 p.m., we want to check the facts about the University of Kassel together, according to the motto: "My university is doing something!", exchange ideas and, for example, discuss the plans of the new Kassel Institute for Sustainability with Prof. Dr. Andreas Christian Braun, and collect suggestions on what each individual can do and what we can do together.

Program of events

The following information stands are planned from 4 to 6 p.m:
- Studierendenwerk with social and student finance counseling as well as the psychological counseling center
- Green Office

From 6 p.m. the lectures will begin:
Moderation: Vice President, Prof. Sonja Buckel

1st Key Note Speaker: Prof. Dr. Andreas Christian Braun (Kassel Institute for Sustainability):
"Sustainability Studies - Sustainable Studies - or how sustainable are sustainability studies?"
Through the Kassel Institute, the SDG+ Lab and the Green Office, the University of Kassel is investing a great deal in creating solutions for a more sustainable everyday and economic life. But how sustainable are universities and studying itself? Where do how many emissions occur? How big is the ecological footprint of studying? And above all: how can universities and higher education be made more sustainable - even beyond the current energy crisis? This article provides some food for thought, joint reflection and the search for solutions.

2nd SoLocal Energy: Tim Füller & Angelica Gamarra: "Increased poverty risks for students: Problems and challenges posed by high energy prices"

3. Scientists for Future: Svenja Quietsch: "Hope in times of climate crisis: from knowledge to action"
