Can VR games save the forest?

Can gamification shed light on how we can protect our forests? At the workshop "Can VR games save the forest?" we creatively address the urgent and complex issue of deforestation and learn new skills in a playful way!

The documenta Institute and the Natural History Museum Kassel invite artists:inside, researchers:inside and all interested people to participate in the 5-day workshop. Together we will develop a VR game experience that addresses the critical issue of deforestation. On this immersive journey, participants will learn how to create compelling stories using cutting-edge technologies such as photogrammetry, remote sensing data, and 3D scans.

We will dive into the world of ecological environmental monitoring and learn how these advanced tools help protect our fragile ecosystems. Led by the director of the Kassel Museum of Natural History, Prof. Dr. Kai Füldner, multimedia artist Artem Konevskih and Dr. des Tamara Bodden, participants will embark on a research journey into the local forest. During this excursion, they learn how to collect the data to create a 3D model of a space. Finally, they develop a scenario and prototype for a computer game. The results of the workshop will be exhibited as part of the "Forests" exhibition at the Kassel Museum of Natural History, which will open in November 2023.

Don't miss this exciting opportunity to contribute to the protection of our forests through the engaging world of gamification! Let's make a difference together and drive change.
