Under the motto "A head full of ideas? Make something of it!", the university is calling for the 14th UNIKAT ideas competition. The aim of the competition, organized by UniKasselTransfer, is to promote creative and innovative solutions to current challenges and to support the diversity of ideas at the University of Kassel.

The UNIKAT ideas competition is an opportunity to develop and promote your own innovative product and service ideas or research results with application potential. Entrepreneurial ideas can be further developed and concretized. Each idea receives personal feedback with individual tips.

Attractive prizes totaling 6,000 euros are up for grabs.
"Regardless of the prizes, every team can benefit from taking part in the competition: The ideas become more tangible through the structured formulation and can be further developed through the feedback and individual tips. In addition, all participants receive access to the start-up community at the University of Kassel and, if desired, advice from the UniKasselTransfer Incubator, the university's start-up support service," says Daniel Opper, Head of Uni Kassel Transfer.

Scientists, employees, students and alumni of the University of Kassel as well as pupils of the Student Research Center North Hesse are eligible to participate. Each idea receives professional and individual written feedback with personalized tips. To this end, the university draws on a long-standing network from industry and society.

"The ideas competition is often also the start of a start-up, as in the case of the Larabicus team. The two research assistants from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering won the competition in 2020 and continuously developed the idea of a cleaning robot for ship hulls. In 2023, the team was able to acquire EXIST research transfer excellence funding, further develop the technology and grow continuously," adds Gabriele Hennemuth, who is organizing this year's UNIKAT ideas competition.

The deadline for the UNIKAT ideas competition is January 31, 2025.
