The doctoral office provides information on the individual steps of the procedure, a sample contract and checks whether the Cotutelle contract complies with the HRK guidelines and the general regulations of the University of Kassel.

Together with the supervisors in the faculty in which the doctoral project is located, further aspects are regulated in the contract, such as the duration of the doctoral project, the duration and time of the stay at the participating universities, the language in which the dissertation is written, the procedure for the assessment, the location of the oral examination, the composition of the examination committee, etc.

Drawing up a Cotutelle contract is very time-consuming due to the need for coordination with the various persons responsible at both universities. For this reason, it is recommended to start preparing the contract one and a half years before submitting the dissertation.
