Over 6000 guests at the Campus Festival

More than 6000 visitors came to the fourth Campus Festival at the Kassel University – that is more than ever before. The university presented itself to the city and region as an attractive place to study, a top-class research institution and a site of cultural diversity. After the official program, many guests stayed the whole evening and enjoyed the party on the campus.

From 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., the campus “Holländische Straße” offered a look behind the scene, science to touch, guided tours, art and culture. Around 650 visitors in the crowded main auditorium joined the keynote lecture by weather expert Sven Plöger and another 500 visitors joined him in another auditorium where the lecture was displayed on big screens. Plöger gave an emotional and well-founded insight in his work and talked about weather extremes and climate change; afterwards he discussed the challenges for politics and society with transformation researcher Prof. Dr. Uwe Schneidewind.

Once again, the guided tours of the campus and the chance to look into scientists' laboratories as well as the music program in front of the refectory were popular. In the evening, a cheerful party developed despite some rain. With about 6000 visitors – visitor kept coming all through the eventing - the Campusfest set a new record this year. At the same time, the "Waschbär Open Air" of the AStA Kassel took place for the second time, contributing to the exuberant atmosphere around the Campus Center.
