Your student documents consist of two pages and contain, among other things, the semester ticket, the student identification card (proof of enrolment) and the election voting card. You receive your student documents at the end of the enrolment process and then every semester, after completing your re-registration. In the following you find a description of the different components of your student documents:
The enrolment data sheet contains your core data which you provided when you enroled at the University of Kassel. Please check each semester whether your data is complete and correct. If there are any changes to your data, please inform the Admissions Office (Studierendensekretariat) immediately.
Also, in some courses of study you are required to provide the upper part of your enrolment data sheet once you want to register for your final exam. Please make sure you keep this part carefully.
The lower part of the sheet contains the official information on re-registration for the upcoming summer or winter semester (more details on re-registration).
The second page of your student documents comprises eight single certificates. In the upper right corner you find the semester ticket, which also serves as a student identification ID. You can easily recognise the ticket due to its silverish hologram. The semester ticket is valid as of the beginning of each semester, i.e. 1 April (summer semester) and 1 October (winter semester) respectively. However, within the NVV transportation region you can start using your ticket as of 1 March (summer semester) and 1 September (winter semester) respectively. Further information on the semester ticket is available on the University of Kassel AStA website.
The student identification card in the upper left corner is for BAföG purposes which is only of use if you have applied for BAföG.
The student identification cards in the middle of the sheet are meant for identification and verification purposes towards different public authorities (e.g. health insurance providers) and private institutions (e.g. employers).
Upon registration, students of the University of Kassel receive an UniAccount, which serves as a gateway to the university’s IT services. The UniAccount contains an email account which is used to provide you with important information. If you have any questions concerning the IT services, you can contact the IT Service Center where you may be asked to identify yourself with your "Nutzerausweis".
The "Beitragsbescheinigung" in the lower left corner serves as a proof of payment of the current semester fee (e.g. for the tax office).
Every winter semester students elect their representatives for the university committees (student parliament, senate, faculty council/student council). Your election voting card ("Wahlbenachrichtigung") tells you within which faculty you can vote. This affiliation depends on the course(s) of studies you have chosen. If more than one faculty is involved, you will be eligible to vote for the faculty that is listed first on your student identification card.
Additional copies of the semester ticket will be labelled "Zweitschrift". Students who need a new semester ticket are required to pay a fee of 30 Euros.
