Fulbright scholarships

The “Fulbright Commission”, which was founded in 1946 and named after the American Senator William Fulbright, promotes the bilateral familiarisation process, meetings between people and an exchange of German-American culture.

The Fulbright Commission awards scholarships to German students and graduates for this purpose. The scholarships are designed to enable students to continue, extend or supplement their studies at American universities and enable Germans to get to know the host country.

It awards:

  • full and partial scholarships
  • travel scholarships
  • Fulbright Enterprise Scholarships (travel scholarships)
  • partial and travel scholarships for German foreign language assistants

The call for proposals for Fulbright scholarships takes place in August for the year of study that begins in the USA in August/September in the following year. You can find the latest application conditions and documents on the website of the Fulbright Commission during the period when applications can be submitted.

As a student of the University of Kassel, please hand in your application for the travel scholarship at the International Office at the University of Kassel (via e-mail to auslandsstudium@uni-kassel.de).

There is a list of the scholarships here.
