The annual event was initiated 19 years ago to get young people interested in engineering and computer science. The aim is to show participants possible career paths in these professional fields through real-life encounters. The aim is to combine practical insights with theoretical knowledge.

At the Day of Technology, students in years 11 to 13 can find out about the wide range of educational opportunities in these fields at the University of Kassel; experts from several Faculties offer lectures and present the many facets of engineering. 23 schools in North Hesse and a total of around 500 pupils have registered for the Day of Technology 2024.

In addition, 29 companies and institutions in North Hesse and South Lower Saxony will open their doors on this day to give participants practical insights into the working world of engineers and present the latest technological developments and innovations.

The Day of Technology is organized by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering/Computer Science at the University of Kassel in cooperation with the Kassel district associations of the Association of Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies (VDE) and the Association of German Engineers (VDI), together with the Faculties of Mechanical Engineering and Civil/Environmental Engineering and financed by a large number of sponsors from the regional economy.
