GreenSports - actively experiencing sustainability in university sports

With the GreenSports project, General University Sports at the University of Kassel is launching a forward-looking initiative that combines sporting activity with sustainable action. From April 27, 2025, all students, employees and interested parties are invited to become part of this movement - for a socially, ecologically and economically responsible sports culture at the university.

The GreenSports sustainability project kicks off on Earth Day. Visitors can find out about the project interactively at the university sports stand and complete the first challenges. Earth Day 2025 will take place on Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 11:00 to 18:00 along Wiener Straße - between the intersection of Wiener Straße / Struthbachweg and the intersection of Wiener Straße / Hersfelder Straße - in the districts of Nord-Holland and Rothenditmold.

Sustainability and sport - how do they go together?
The concept of general university sport at the University of Kassel is more than just a program - it is a dynamic learning path that combines ecological, social and economic sustainability. Regardless of whether they already have some experience of sustainable sport or are new to the topic, participants are met exactly where they are.

Step by step, the participants delve deeper into sustainable topics and develop into multipliers for environmentally conscious action in sport. The challenges are based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
