MINT-Mach-Saturday on June 14

Launching a water rocket, experimenting with chocolate or virtual welding - science becomes an experience at the STEM Make Saturday at the University of Kassel. On Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Wilhelmshöher Allee campus invites interested people of all ages - especially families - to a varied day of hands-on activities related to Mathematics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences and Technology (STEM). Admission is free and registration is not required.

On MINT-Mach-Saturday at the University of Kassel, children and adults discover scientific and technical phenomena at interactive stations.

For the third time, the MINT Hub at the University of Kassel is using this format to bring young and old guests into contact with science and technology in a fun way. The aim is to arouse enthusiasm for scientific and technical topics and to make the practical relevance and diversity of STEM subjects tangible. The day of action is supported by a broad network of regional partners - from schools and companies to extracurricular places of learning.

The program is as varied as it is interactive: the Faculty of Civil Engineering, for example, invites you to test the load-bearing capacity of bending beams made of chocolate. In Mechanical Engineering, children and young people can launch a water rocket or familiarize themselves with the dynamics of technical systems. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering/Computer Science presents experiments in power electronics and provides insights into energy technology - including the opportunity to build their own electronic circuits.

Numerous external partners are also involved in organizing the day: The Schülerforschungszentrum Nordhessen will be bringing its STEM van, Future Space will be offering 3D printing, and the Georg-Christoph-Lichtenberg-Schule will be saying "Come on, let's play math." The Max-Eyth-Schule invites you to take part in soldering exercises, while "Jugend forscht" presents other exciting projects and experiments. The Hacker School teaches initial programming skills. Virtual welding is possible on the welding simulator of the Schmidtsche Schack company, while Kasseler Verkehrs- und Versorgungs-GmbH offers virtual rides in the simulator.

As a small thank you, all children who take part in the hands-on stations will receive a surprise.

The MINT-Mach-Saturday is supported by Volkswagen, the employers' association HESSENMETALL Nordhessen, Micromata GmbH and SCHMIDTSCHE SCHACK | ARVOS GmbH.
