Kassel-Vellmar cycle highway: construction work begins

As part of the expansion of the Kassel-Vellmar high-speed cycle link, reconstruction work in the area of the central Holländischer Platz campus will begin on June 10 with the installation of the construction site. The first construction phase concerns the parking lot/corner of Henschelstraße adjacent to the university up to the junction with Holländische Straße. Pedestrian traffic is to be maintained as far as possible. The parking lot adjacent to the university and the parking lots along Gottschalkstraße, on the other hand, will only be accessible to a limited extent. Access will be restricted from the start of construction at 7.00 a.m. until the end of construction (approx. 5.00 p.m.), depending on the progress of construction. Vehicles cannot be parked in the construction area. Stores, pubs, restaurants and the Schlachthof cultural center will still be within walking distance.

After the first construction phase, the following construction phases are planned:

• Construction phase 2: Henschelstraße to Moritzstraße
• Construction phase 3: Gottschalkstraße between Moritzstraße and Ludwigstraße
• Construction phase 4: Gottschalkstraße between Ludwigstraße and Westring
• Construction phase 5: Gottschalkstraße between Westring and Mombachstraße
• Construction phase 6: Mombachstraße between Mombachstraße 13 and the junction with Fiedlerstraße
