Virtual action day provides information on study programmes

The day of action offers an overview of the future-oriented and exciting study programs at universities in Hessen. Prospective students can gain an insight into different Faculties, find out how to apply or ask students about their personal experiences. Prospective students with special challenges are also addressed, for example because they have chronic illnesses or are the first in their family to study.

The lecture program is presented on the landing page www.studiereninhessen.de. Up-to-date information on study orientation and the study programme in Hesse will also be available there after the campaign day.

During the campaign day, the student advisory services will give 24 presentations on topics such as "Shaping the world - studying in the fields of environment, agriculture and nutrition", "Promoting development - studying in the fields of education and social work" or "Creative with formulas, numbers and rules - studying in the fields of math, computer science and natural sciences" to show which universities in Hessen offer suitable degree programmes. They will discuss the differences between the more research-oriented and more application-oriented study programmes.

Other cross-university lecture topics include "Studying with a disability or chronic illness", "Dual studies in Hessen" and "University access for vocationally qualified students". Parents and teachers will also receive information in two offers on how they can support pupils in their study and career orientation. In addition, students will report on how they managed to start their studies and talk about the difference between school and university.

Young prospective students in particular often feel insecure about their professional future and the wide range of study options. The universities' central student advisory services offer comprehensive and always up-to-date advice on study and career orientation. The mission of the student advisory service, which has long been enshrined in law in Hesse, is to support future students in their choice of university and subject, to provide information about the requirements and content of studies, to advise in the event of decision-making conflicts and to improve the accuracy of study choices for prospective students. This requires open-ended, confidential advice and basic knowledge of the various educational options and study programs. The student advisors have up-to-date knowledge of educational career planning and are highly sensitive to unequal, conflicting requirements and diversity thanks to regular further training.
