University Library: System Migration in August – No Book Checkouts for Eleven Days
Image: Sascha Mannel. The following services will be limited from August 17 to 27, 2026:
Check-out: No materials may be checked out during this period.
Returns: Items may be returned at the service desks. Loan periods have been adjusted so that returns are generally not required during the transition. No overdue notices will be issued during this period.
Hours of Operation: The library locations will be open as usual—with one exception: The Murhard Library will be closed from August 17–22 due to relocation work.
KARLA Catalog Portal: Searches for books and journals are only possible via the hebis union catalog
Access to electronic resources: Access links will change for university members. Non-university users will not have access to electronic resources
Orders/Reservations: Internal orders and reservations made in the KARLA library catalog will not be transferred to the new system. Users should therefore create wish lists with important titles before August 17 so that they can easily reorder them after the transition. Interlibrary loan requests will be transferred to the new system.
