Urban gardening in the digital age
Supporting the maintenance of raised bed environments with automatic control
In practical projects, students develop systems for measuring and automatically watering urban gardens. Therefore, we, the ASN Group, together with the Department of Organic Plant Nutrition build raised bed environments at Wilhelmshöher Allee, which will be equipped by students with sensors and actuator systems. As part of different projects, soil temperature and moisture levels in the beds, as well as local weather conditions will be automatically measured. Additionally, dynamical models of raised bed environments are identified to design control schemes for optimal irrigation.
