Research

In research, the e²n department deals with questions in the medium and long-term time horizon for the fundamentally new energy system design. In numerous projects, the interdisciplinary development of methods, concepts and procedures for the analysis, operation management and design of the future decentralized power supply system with a high share of renewable energies takes place. A special focus is the development of methods for modeling and (real-time) simulation for the analysis and description of the system in different time scales and system levels. Another focus is the optimization of the operation management of the electrical grid by multi-criteria optimization over different actors, control strategies and time scales. Different methodologies and tools are used to investigate the different aspects.

The department works in close cooperation with Fraunhofer IEE.
